This dragon knows his subterranean nightspots.
To step into the Portside on 7 Alexander Street is to step into Disney's version of Tom Waits' "Singapore".
At the end of the downstairs bar, there's a dim sum shack that uses the twee-retro design elements from Save-On Meats (also owned by Mark Brand), but to tout snacks eaten with wooden skewers or chopsticks.
Is this dragon, all eyebrows and goatee, correct? Is Portside's dim sum truly the best shit? You'd find better on Alexandria Road (or down the street in Chinatown), but it's refreshing to see a bar menu containing something other than fries and burgers.
Superb Pacific-Northwest beer selection, but not exactly a budget night out. My Visa card actually had a black eye.
