As we kick off the month of December and get in the holiday spirit, we often feel a stronger sense of community and are reminded to give back. If you're looking to get more involved in the East Van community, check out the tweetup happening next Wednesday. You can also have a little fun with CBC while donating to the food bank. Or just check out the amazing craft fairs and Christmas shows where you can score some unique local gifts and yummy food.

It’s easy to donate money, but how about your time? The concept behind the EastVanLove Tweetups has been promoting and supporting the East Vancouver community. What better way than by getting involved with one of the area’s organizations in need? This will be an upbeat evening of how volunteering can benefit the community. There will be time for networking and meeting the speakers. Speakers include: Caroline MacGillivray / Beauty Night Society, Dave MacDonald / REACH Multicultural Family Centre, Diane Roberts / urban ink productions, Harsha Walia / DTES Women's Centre. 25th annual CBC British Columbia Food Bank Day

Be part of CBC's 25th Annual Food Bank Day and Open House, celebrating the generosity of the CBC audience over the past quarter century. CBC is inviting the public to come to the CBC Broadcast Centre to see how they make radio, television and digital programming. Doors open at 5:30 a.m. with Rick Cluff and The Early Edition live in Studio 700. From 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. you can tour CBC Vancouver's integrated newsroom, meet your favorite CBC on air personalities and reporters and visit the archives. You can contribute to the Food Bank of your choice at the Open House, online or by phone on that day.
