car2go expands its carsharing network to North Vancouver

car2go announced today that it will expand its carsharing fleet to North Vancouver. Starting February 22, car2go members can access one of 50 new smart fortwo vehicles in the City of North Van. The expansion means that car2go’s BC home area available to over 23,000 members, will now include North Van and total 82 square kilometres. For a list of car2go parking spots, please visit:

Says North Vancouver Mayor Daryl Mussato, "The City of North Vancouver is very pleased to welcome car2go as a new business in our community. I applaud their commitment to providing our residents with a sustainable transportation option through this carsharing program."

“The tremendous success of car2go Vancouver has more than exceeded our expectations,” said Nicholas Cole, president and CEO of car2go Canada. “In less than two years, accelerated member growth and demand for point to point carsharing in British Columbia have spurred car2go to expand by launching in the City of North Vancouver, and we’re looking forward to being a part of their community.”

car2go is a carsharing network available in 18 cities across North America. A wholly owned subsidiary of Daimler whose founders Gottlieb Daimler and Carl Benz were among the inventors of the automobile, car2go embodies the future of urban transportation.

What distinguishes car2go from other car sharing networks is the flexibility to either park and leave the car at your destination, take a different car2go for your return, or return in the car2go you arrived in. There are currently 450 car2go vehicles parked in convenient locations throughout the BC Home Area.
