A new video posted on YouTube further unveils the mystery surrounding the now-famous riot kiss photograph taken during the Stanley Cup riots.
Just last week the identities of the young couple were revealed to be Canadian Alexandra Thomas and Australian Scott Jones.
Footage of the incident shows the seconds leading up to the lovers embrace, and a bystander providing aid to Thomas.
In the video, police charge down Seymour street, knocking the couple to the ground with their riot shields.
David Eby of the B.C. Civil Liberties Association said the treatment of Jones and Thomas by the officers looked like standard police protocol for riots.
"Eby said after police read the riot act -- which probably happened by this time -the crowd is obligated to disperse. Police would then move forward in a line with their shields up," the Vancouver Sun reports.
The kissing couple happened to be standing at the front of the crowd when the surge occurred, he said.
