Mudslide hits train in Chilliwack

A mudslide has covered a section of the Trans-Canada Highway between Hope and Chilliwack and there is a report the slide has struck a C.N. freight train.

Twenty cars of the train may have been hit by the debris.

The slide closed the route in both directions for a time, but the eastbound lanes were quickly reopened while a detour is in effect for the westbound lanes.

It's not known how long it will take to clear the slide.
