Yesterday, City Hall launched a new city-wide engagement campaign,  Talk Housing With Us, focused on affordable housing.

The website features a forum which allows users to post their opinion about what needs to be done to end street homelessness and create more affordable housing.

According to a new report by the Winnipeg-based Frontier Centre for Public Policy, Vancouver currently has the third most expensive housing market in the English-speaking world, surpassing even London and New York. Vancouver's median house price of $602,000  for the third quarter of 2010, landing it in the "severely unaffordable" category of homes.

Feedback on the Talk Housing to Us forum is expected to help shape a revised Homelessness and Affordable Housing Strategic Plan for Vancouver.

Go to Talk Vancouver to share your opinion about solutions in the online forums. Also, get involved by attending the Renters’ Roundtable on May 26th at the Central Branch of the Vancouver Public Library.
