Shell reports oil spilled at refinery near Puget Sound
A hose burst at Shell's Anacosta oil refinery in Puget Sound this morning causing up to 8,000 gallons oil to leak. The burst, which was reported around 9:30 a.m., happened when a hose used to transfer crude oil from a storage tank to a pipeline ruptured.
Shell spokesperson Destin Singleton told the Seattle Times that the leak was entirely contained to the site. Reports say a Coast Guard flyover confirmed that no oil spilled into local waters.
