With the help of the Coquitlam RCMP, police arrested a 65-year-old man in Coquitlam in connection with the west side homicide this morning, according to the Vancouver Police Department's media release.

Police found the Richmond native in Coquitlam around 8 a.m., a few hours after the police responded to a report of a fight breaking out in an apartment building lobby on Balsam Street near West 41st Avenue. When they arrived they found a 59-year-old Vancouver man in the lobby who appeared to been stabbed. He was rushed to the hospital with series injuries and died a short time later.

The suspect and the victim knew each other and investigators will look into the motive for the attack.

This is Vancouver’s 9th homicide this year.
