Friends of Science billboard blames climate change on the sun

Friends of Science, a group that has long challenged the view that human activity is connected to global warming, has put up a billboard ad in Calgary blaming climate change on the sun.

"The sun is the main driver of climate change. Not you. Not CO2," reads the billboard, which was approved by Pattison Outdoor.

The same company also rejected environmental group Greenpeace's billboard ad on solar energy in 2012.

"The sun is a major cause of temperature variation on the earth surface as its received radiation changes all the time....The number and the lengths in time of sunspots can be correlated very closely with average temperatures on earth, e.g. the Little Ice Age and the Medieval Warm Period," says the Friends of Science website, under its "Myths and Facts" section.
