Soup to warm the soul

Photography by TL Macdonald

'Tis the season, the time of year where the leaves change colour and the air becomes a little more crisp. It’s soup season.

Betty Crocker has the perfect way to chase the chill out of fall and winter,  a great free download of their  Soups, Stews & Chilies Cookbook.  The e- book is filled with over 100 yummy recipes to warm the soul and heart.

The recipes include favorites such as chunky tomato soup and slow cooker recipes like french onion soup, to new twists on classics like the one I decided to try, minestrone with Italian sausage.

The recipes are easy to follow and taste delicious.  All the recipes have nutritional information (calories, fiber, fat, etc.), plus many of the recipes can be prepared in a slow cooker. The book also includes a nice section on homemade breads that look simple to make and sound perfect for serving with a hearty bowl of soup.
