Pizza and salad combo at Whole Foods a steal for lunch

As I was strolled through the Broadway-Cambie area on this fine sunny day, I needed something quick and affordable for lunch. Usually, Whole Foods is the last place I think of when I want something affordable, but I had a hankering for salad and Whole Foods always has fresh greens.
Then I spotted the sign.
Six bucks for a huge slice of pizza and a “small salad”. That sounded like a reasonably-priced deal.
On the downside, I was told there only one choice for salad, which turned out to be a fairly generic mix of baby romaine and spinach, tossed with grape tomatoes, cucumber slices, and some large chunks of red onion.

I don’t think anyone would consider this generous serving of salad “small”. My hankering for greens was definitely satisfied. As for the pizza, I went for the 'wild mushroom' variety.
There appeared to be no wild mushrooms on the pizza except for a few slices of what I figure were shiitake mushrooms. The rest were your garden variety button mushrooms.
Then again, you can't expect chanterelles or morels when paying $5.99 for lunch. The pine nuts added a nice touch.
Also, it's worth mentioning that the folks at Whole Foods will warm up your pizza in a wood stone oven.
All in all, this lunch combo gets a thumbs up. The pizza and salad itself were neither fantastic nor unique, but six dollars for lunch at Whole Foods is a steal in my book.
