Vancouver's autumn Baker's Market

Enjoy sampling a wide assortment of delectable, fresh, handmade treats both sweet and savoury while supporting your local bakers at Vancouver's Baker's Market.

Take a look into what Vancouver's 2010 Baker's Market has to offer.

Experience the most delicious and diverse assortment of baked goods Vancouver has to offer at the Baker's Market held every Saturday until December 11th.

The room is filled with dozens of tables displaying a wide variety of each baker's freshly made pastries, breads, and seasonal treats of all kinds. This market features local bakers whipping up delectable concoctions with everything from basic cupcakes, cookies, and cakes to fresh marshmallows, chewy pretzels, handmade truffles, and even Whoopie pies. The bakers create all their treats from scratch with many using only organic ingredients. The market caters to everyone from foodies to vegans, those with gluten allergies, and a few bakers even have fresh baked treats for your pets.

Amongst the hoard of talented bakers, a few notable tables include the Ivy Oven with their organic and innovative dill and cheese scones that literally melt in your mouth and SweeTease Cupcakes with their unique assortment of cupcakes with flavours ranging from orange and banana to almond and bourbon. Stiff Peaks Vegan Bakery also struck a note with their well-seasoned (and healthy) kale chips.

After you're done sampling all the treats, if you venture a little further in, you'll find a beautiful assortment of stylish baking supplies and beautiful wedding paraphernalia.

The market is held every Saturday from 11 am to 3 pm at 408 East Kent Avenue, Vancouver. Admission is free and there'll be different vendors at each event, so every week will be different.  Also, be sure to sign up for the 2010 Baker's Market cupcake eating contest to be held on November 6th. Challenge yourself to eat as many cupcakes as you can to win a grand prize of, you guessed it, cupcakes.
