In his introduction before conferring an honorary doctorate upon her, UBC president Stephen Toope described Tzeporah Berman as "principled and pragmatic."

"Ms. Berman has at times been besieged by critics both in, and outside the environmental movement," he said.

Her acceptance speech, which was described by some UBC professors as  a "barn burner", and "just the right amount of kick in the pants," became available on Youtube today.
