Watching a Cuban dance troupe coax the hesitant, multicultural audience on their feet to a learn a few steps during Sawan Mela, I reflected on how the South Asian Family Association (SAFA) has encouraged cross-cultural awareness through events like their 10th annual music festival.
Artists from across many cultures--Punjabi, Hindi, Cuban and more--are invited to sing, dance and share their talents during this free, family-friendly event.
And the audience mirrors the diverse ethnicities that comprise Vancouver, making this festival a true celebration of cultural harmony.
