Comics enthusiasts take note! Now in it's third year, Emily Con is a one day celebration of local comic culture, including live panel discussions, artist demos and a participatory comix jam. Artists, writers and comic book creators will showcase their comics, zines and artwork.
12:00 pm - A BRIEF HISTORY of NORTH AMERICAN COMICS - with Robin Thompson
What was the first comic book? Who created the graphic novel? Why were comics banned sixty years ago? Learn about the growth of comics from their inception to present day in this informative and entertaining slideshow presentation.

Drop-in tours of the space to see first-hand what The Leeway has to offer. Enjoy our Art Supply + Equipment Sale featuring a range of our out-of-date and unused equipment and materials, from analogue slide projectors, to aging digital camcorders, as well as a slew of other random art school finds! Technical Demonstration (11:45 am + 3pm) During this short 30 minute demo, Leeway Studio Technicians will show several techniques for image transfer and surface treatment for mixed-media practice.
