Surrey hit in early-morning cross-Canada police raids

900 officers stage raids over alleged attempted murder, prostitution, firearms and drug trafficking.


Surrey was one of the targets early Tuesday morning in a massive investigation that saw police stages early morning raids in Ontario, Alberta and B.C.

Police are expected to release details about the investigation this afternoon.

They have said that Project Marvel involved criminal organization offences, attempted murder, firearms trafficking and importation, drug trafficking, robbery, shootings, prostitution and other crimes.

More than 900 officers executed 67 search warrants simultaneously across Ontario and in Western Canada.

Police say nearly 400 tactical officers were involved and that more than 20 police forces, Canada Border Services Agency and the U.S. Bureau of Alcohol Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives were involved.

The probe began in Toronto and London and spread west, police add.
