Brenda Gouglas

Brenda Gouglas has lived in the community of Fort St. James, British Columbia for 27 years. In 2011 she retired from the Ministry of Forests after a 21-year career. Brenda was also a District of Fort St. James Councillor from 2006 through 2011. Brenda is a member of the Fort St. James Sustainability Group, an intervener in the Enbridge Northern Gateway Pipelines project Joint Review Panel process. She was a researcher and co presenter for the group during the hearings. Brenda also helped the Fort St. James Municipal administration with research for their written and oral final arguments, and presented their oral final argument to the Joint Review Panel on behalf of Mayor and Council. Through her experiences Brenda developed a belief in the absolute value of protecting the environment through responsible resource management, and of the multi-generational benefits that are derived from local processing of a raw resource into manufactured products for domestic use and global exports.
