Vancouver Fashion Week 2009 Hosted by High-End Carpet Showroom

Vancouver, BC, October 29, 2009 - Colin Campbell is opening their showroom at 494 Railway Street, Vancouver, to host Vancouver Fashion Week. This exceptional event is being held in Colin Campbell’s world class showroom and gallery, (a fabulous space not to be missed), a perfect showcase that compliments their fine quality merchandise with the world renowned and local Designers.

A premier wholesaler of high quality carpets, broadloom and area rugs, Colin Campbell is a trade only designer showroom catering to the architect and design community in Western Canada, with showrooms in Vancouver, Calgary and Edmonton. A sterling reputation precedes them as they have been importing and distributing wool and natural floor coverings for over 55 years.

Their state of the art carpets are made all over the world, primarily in Nepal or Katmandu, as these areas are known for the finest quality knot and product throughout the world with contemporary and traditional rugs. The majority of the rugs have the rug mark certification which ensures no child labour. Always being ahead of the standard, they have always focused on natural materials, primarily wool carpet.

Showcased in their gallery will be designs from two award winning designers, Zoë Luyendijk and Jan Kath, with whom they have exclusive representation in Western Canada for several years and together represent the best talent on the planet when it comes to modern rug making, an opportunity all designers and potential clients should take advantage.

Zoë Luyendijk is a local designer with a history in BC designing hand knotted carpets, hand-made by highly skilled artisans in the Kathmandu valley. She along with her partner has developed a type of weave that the original weavers in Nepal have yet to discover. This blend of new weave along with a centuries old traditional weave have created rugs that literally are works of art and has enabled Zoë to create intricate modern designs and textures in a very organic style with a west coast feel.

Jan Kath is a fourth generation rug designer with a “new edge” flair unlike previous generations. Also Jan’s rugs are produced in Nepal, and then shipped to Switzerland for a special wash that gives them their signature sheen and sparkle, unlike most other rugs. His ability to create and combine traditional, transitional designs into modern rugs is second to none.
