Shad talks about his Christmas memories
Juno award-winning rap artist and rising star Shad K treasures the memory of watching music videos on TV during Christmas -- long before he appeared in music clips himself.
The Rwandan Canadian artist, whose real name is Shadrach Kabango, is one of those brainy hip hop stars (like k-os and Common) whose lyrics delve deep, into issues like the Rwandan genocide and young adults living with their parents. He also speaks French and has a master's degree in liberal arts.
He reminisced about his childhood before getting ready to move out from Commercial Drive to Ontario for the holidays.
What is your favourite holiday memory?
Shad: Probably any Christmas as a little kid -- Playing with brand new baseball cards, watching music video countdowns with my sister, and listening to my aunts sing.
What's your vision for Canada over the next year? A resolution, so to speak.
Shad: Hmmm... If I could make a resolution for the whole country it would be for all of us to learn more about our world. I think that could change a lot.
