Wild Goose Pinot Gris 2007

My sister’s 50th was a great excuse for a road trip to Vancouver Island last month. Although I enjoyed the party and getting together with family, the drive home proved to be just as memorable. With mother and daughter in tow, we decided to take the scenic route back to the ferry on the old Island highway. As we grew hungrier and stomachs began growling, we stopped looking at the view and starting voicing suggestions for the perfect spot to pull into.

My daughter won. The view was breath taking and we were soon parking the car with anticipation of tasty Island fare. We happened to arrive just after the brunch buffet had finished and happily agreed to sit in the Lounge over-looking the water. Menus arrived, suggestions were made and orders were placed.

While we waited for the food, the wine was poured. I selected a glass of the 2007 Wild Goose Pinot Gris, golden in color with hints of ripe pear and rhubarb. Superb! When the food arrived, all I can say is thank God for great wine. A return to work the following day prompted me to check up on the delicious nectar I had enjoyed so much. I was delighted to find out it had received a gold medal at the Okanagan Wine Festival and award for best Pinot Gris. As far as my appetite, I was still hungry.

For those looking for a new wine to try, this Wild Goose at $20.85 should end your search.
