Around 1,000 rallied in Victory Square in downtown Vancouver against the proposed Enbridge Northern Gateway pipeline today. Bolstered by the support of Idle No More and Downtown Eastside community groups, the crowd gave a noisy 'welcome' to Enbridge as the as the Joint Review Panel hearings came to Vancouver.

"The Harper government has one of the most aggressive high carbon strategies in the world. Shame!" Sto:lo Nation member and educatoEddie Gardner told the fired-up crowd before the march, as they shouted with him.

"He (Prime Minister Stephen Harper) is one of the biggest enemies of the environment....even now, there are many and an increasing number of economists and business analysts that are telling Harper: you're going the wrong way!"

More updates to come. Below, videos of the rally by dgSolidarity.
