Vancouver woman killed in bizarre traffic accident

Vancouver Police are investigating a bizarre accident that has killed a 52 year old Vancouver woman.

Shortly before 1:30 this afternoon, police received a call after the woman was found trapped under her car in the south lane of East 13th Avenue near Commercial Drive.

It is still early in the investigation, but it appears that the woman was loading or unloading her two dogs and some cargo through the back hatch. The car rolled backwards down a sloped driveway, trapping the woman. Eventually, neighbours noticed the vehicle in the middle of the lane with the dogs inside. They called 9-1-1 once they saw the woman trapped underneath.

Vancouver Police, BC Ambulance Service and Vancouver Fire and Rescue arrived and the woman was pronounced dead at the scene.

Investigators from the VPD Collision Investigation Unit will attempt to determine exactly what factors contributed to this tragic accident.
