Death at 2nd and Burrard

A man and a woman have died in a collision at Burrard Street and West 2nd Avenue.

Shortly after 8:00 a.m., a motorcycle travelling south on Burrard Street struck a car that was eastbound at the intersection of West 2nd Avenue.

Both of the riders on the motorcycle, a 22-year-old woman and a man, age not yet known, died from their injuries. This is Vancouver’s 15th and 16th traffic fatality of 2012.

The driver of the car was taken to hospital with minor injuries.

The Vancouver Police Collision Investigation Unit will be on Burrard for several hours investigating and determining the cause of the collision.

Anyone that witnessed the collision and has not spoken with police is asked to call the VPD Collision Investigation Unit at 604-717-3012.
