Stabbings in West End send six to hospital

Vancouver Police are investigating a West End stabbing that has sent six people to hospital with injuries and has one man in custody facing charges.

Around 6:45 this evening, police responded to a report of a stabbing in an apartment building in the 1200 block of Barclay Street. When police got there they found a number of people suffering from apparent stab wounds.

Seven people were injured, six of them were rushed to hospital with undetermined injuries.

A suspect was taken into custody a short distance away from the building.

Detectives from the Vancouver Police Major Crime Section and the Forensic Identification Unit have been called out and they will be at the scene throughout the night.

It is early in the investigation and the motive for this violent attack is unknown. More information will be provided as it becomes available.
