Missing person Randy Ponzio found dead

The search for 35-year-old Vancouver resident Bruce Randall "Randy" Ponzio has been called off after his body was discovered in a downtown eastside rooming house on Saturday, November 19.

Police received a call on Saturday shortly before 5 pm to the Balmoral Hotel in the 100 block East Hastings after getting a report that a man's body was inside a room, according to a Vancouver Police Department press release.

There were no obvious signs of trauma but police are treating his death as suspicious, and an autopsy will be scheduled to determine his cause of death.

The family of Randy Ponzio is asking for privacy as they begin to grieve their loss.

The Vancouver Police are appealing to anyone who saw Randy in the days and hours leading up to his body being discovered to contact Major Crime investigators at 604-717-2500 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
