Woman dies at Occupy Vancouver

Police have reported that a woman, believed to be in her 20's, has died after being found unresponsive inside a tent at the Occupy Vancouver encampment on the grounds of the Vancouver Art Gallery.

Shortly after 4:30 pm Saturday afternoon, a person returning to the tent found the woman and called for assistance. B.C. Ambulance paramedics transported her to hospital where she was pronounced deceased, police say.

Vancouver Police have cordoned off the area and the VPD Forensic Identification Squad is processing the scene. The cause of death has not been determined; however, no evidence has been uncovered at this early stage in the investigation to suggest the death is suspicious.

The B.C. Coroner's service has been notified and efforts to locate next of kin are underway.

The Vancouver Observer has a reporter on site, David Ball, and he said that the woman died of an overdose.  His story is coming soon.
