Update on weekend pedestrian-involved collisions

Vancouver Police have made contact with a witness to a serious pedestrian collision over the weekend in the 100 block of East Hastings Street. Thanks to media coverage, the witness came forward after learning police had made a public appeal on June 26 asking for assistance from the driver of a vehicle in the adjacent lane to where the crash happened.

The victim, a 52 year old Vancouver man, remains in critical condition in hospital. The VPD Collision Investigation Unit is handling the case and no charges have been recommended at this stage in the investigation.

In an unrelated investigation, Vancouver police are still hunting for the driver of a black Lexus 350 IS convertible involved in a fatal hit and run on the morning of June 25th near Jackson and East Hastings. The driver left the scene before being identified.

Vancouver Police are renewing their appeal for the driver to come forward and are urging anyone with information to contact the VPD Collision Investigation Unit at 604-717-3012.
