Police re-open 1977 investigation and search for woman's remains

Vancouver Police have opened an investigation into the disappearance of a woman who was last seen in 1977 after new information has come to light. This information has led police to believe that human remains may be in a home at 4842 Rupert Street.

With the assistance of the Simon Fraser School of Archaeology, VPD Major Crime and Missing Persons investigators will conduct a thorough search and excavation at the home in the hopes of finding out if human remains can be located. 

 Forensic identification teams and police investigators are expected to be at the residence for more than a week.

 A name is not being released in connection with this case until more information can be confirmed.

 Anyone with information relating to this investigation is asked to contact the VPD Missing Persons Unit at 604-717-2530.
