First homicide of 2011

 Vancouver Police are confirming that a man shot earlier this evening in the 1000 block of Hornby Street has died. This is the first homicide of 2011.

The VPD Major Crime Homicide Section is investigating and the identity of the victim is not being released at this time.

Around 8:30 p.m. Thursday evening, multiple callers to 9-1-1 reported hearing shots fired in the 1000 block of Hornby Street. Police arrived to find a man suffering from gun shot wounds. He was taken to hospital where he died a short time later.
