Gang shooting injures ten on Oak Street

Several people are in custody this morning in connection with a gang-related shooting overnight on Oak Street. Six men and three women are being treated for gunshot wounds. Two of the nine victims are in critical condition and a tenth victim has refused treatment.

Shortly after 2:00 a.m. multiple callers to 9-1-1 reported hearing shots fired near Oak St. and W.22nd Avenue. When officers arrived in the area they found a number of people suffering from gunshot wounds in the 3800 block of Oak Street. Additional victims were found a short distance away on the street and more turned up at local area hospitals over the next hour, having made their way there in private vehicles.
A number of witnesses have been taken to the police station for interviews and the investigation is ongoing. Oak Street remains closed to traffic in both directions between W. 22nd Avenue and King Edward Avenue.
