Police officer involved in fatal shooting in Langley

At the request of the Langley detachment of the RCMP, Vancouver Police have agreed to investigate a fatal police-involved shooting that occurred in a residence in the 5200 block of 203rd Street in Langley on the evening of August 6th.

Around 11:30 p.m., Langley RCMP were dispatched to a domestic disturbance after a woman called 9-1-1 asking for police. Members arrived moments later and while searching the apartment, were confronted by a man inside. The man was shot by police and died a short time later in hospital.

VPD Major Crime investigators are conducting the investigation and have interviewed several witnesses. Forensic investigators are collecting evidence at the apartment and officers will be conducting a canvass of nearby residents later today.
