Robbery at Knifepoint

The week of April 20th saw three similar style robberies occur on three consecutive days in the area of Earles and Vanness, according to police reports.

In each robbery police said the victim was approached by three teenagers, one of whom was holding a knife and demanding property. In one incident the victim handed over her purse, and in the other two, the victims refused and no property was obtained.

During the incident on April 22nd, police said the victim called 9-1-1 with a description of three female suspects which resulted in the location and apprehension of two teenage girls on the Skytrain. Two of the girls, aged 11 and 13, were taken into custody, and the third girl escaped.

The 13-year-old has been charged with robbery, and the 11-year-old was taken home as she is too young to face criminal charges.

The investigation is ongoing in order to establish links between the robberies and to identify the third suspect.

There were no injuries in any of the robberies, police said.
