Gunmen Rob Gun Shop in Broad Daylight on Burrard

"At 2:30 this afternoon Lever Arms Gun Shop, at 2131 Burrard St, was held up by three armed gunmen who got away with a number of firearms. A short time later police officers pulled over a suspicious van, containing three men, on Broadway at Cambie. Believing that they may have the armed robbers, the officers initiated a "code 5" take-down. (This means that they treat the occupants of the car as if they are armed and dangerous.) All three men were taken into custody at gun point," Constable Tim Fanning, Media Relations Office of the Vancouver Police Department said today in an email sent to media outlets throughout the city.

"It turns out that they were not the armed robbers we were searching for and are completely innocent. The men were released after we apologized and explained our actions. Please consider this if you have video or pictures of the incident."
