Buffaloswans, Jess Hill and Magpie Ulysses Western Caravan Tour sports alternative country music and slam poetry

Buffaloswans (Right), Jess Hill (Far Left) and Magpie Ulysses (Front)

THIS JUST IN, Jess Hill is one of 20 finalists in 100.5 The PEAK Performance Project 2010! All the more reason to attend the tour kickoff this Thursday.

"Murder ballads, thoughtful reckoning & danceable Americana folk rock all in one finely crafted road show guaranteed to harvest your emptiest of despairs, and spin them into the most chaotic joy imaginable‚Ķ"

This is the tagline for the impending "coast to prairie" Western Caravan Tour, featuring Buffaloswans, Jess Hill & Magpie Ulysses and taking place from June 3rd to June 13th, 2010.

Buffaloswans, a soulful psychedelic country act that has performed with successes such as Dan Mangan and east coast Two Hours Traffic, is a local quintet with high ambitions of their own. They echo the sounds of Wilco, REM, Arcade Fire and Ween. Hearty vocals and a rootsy feel finely compliment their firm songwriting. Check out their sweet slide guitar, Fender Rhodes and unison vocals on MySpace.

Jess Hill has been featured on CBC radio, performed at The Vancouver Folk Festival and Vancouver International Jazz Festival, to name a few of her recent experiences. Jess really knows how to invite audiences to join her in her own realm. With Jess Hill, you don't just get a gorgeous singing voice, but also a story.

Magpie Ulysses has been called one of Vancouver's most "dynamic and prolific performance poets". She is a truly intelligent slam poet whose commentary stretches from the meaning of west coast life to the meaning of the universe.
