Sci-fi has a new leading lady: Jody Thompson

The ever-captivating actress and filmmaker Jody Thompson, is back on the small screen after her critically acclaimed leading role performance in the film 'Alien Trespass' (Eric McCormack, 'Will & Grace'). In 'Trespass', Jody plays a sultry 1950’s housewife to Eric McCormack’s character, a brilliant “alien-possessed” scientist/husband. Jody was nominated for a Best Actress Leo Award for the role and was reported by The New York Times to have “acted her male colleagues into the margins.”*. Directed by R.W. Goodwin of 'X-Files' fame, the film was made in homage to the 1950’s cult-movie phenomenon and is currently available on DVD.

Solidifying her name as a science-fiction queen, Jody’s next appearance will be on the award-winning FOX television series, 'Fringe', airing on February 4th, 2011 at 9/8c. Without giving away any details of the much anticipated, mind-bending episode, it is safe to say that Jody’s pivotal role and heart wrenching performance goes a long way in reminding us that she’s not just another pretty face.

Following 'Fringe', Jody will be joining the ensemble cast of the Emmy-nominated Syfy hit seriesSanctuary’, in a recurring role as the beautiful and mysterious Lieutenant Fallon. ‘Sanctuary’ airs on SPACE in Canada on Friday nights at 9pm ET/PT, and on Syfy in the US on Friday nights at 10pm ET/PT.

Jody is already widely recognized for her regularly recurring character "Devon Moore" on the USA network's television series, 'The 4400', as well as other recurring television roles in ‘Blade: The Series', 'Terminal City', ‘Flash Gordon’ and ‘Cold Squad'. She has also had guest star roles or multiple appearances as different characters, on such acclaimed TV series as ‘Smallville’, 'Stargate SG1/Atlantis’ and ‘Supernatural' to name a few.

Jody spends her free time writing and running, working with her animals and loving her family – which is a big part of why she insists on calling Vancouver home. She’s more likely to be found in jeans and a sweatshirt than in a designer dress, or hiding out in a library than partying in a nightclub, but her all-time favourite activity whether it ranges from fly-fishing, to wilderness hiking, to dog-training, will always be playing in the great outdoors.
