Tom Ford and Marc Jacobs: spring and summer 2011 lookbooks
Perhaps it was that first crocus that I saw popping its little head up through the frost-covered ground yesterday morning. Or maybe it was the January sunshine that we had been enjoying until today. At any rate, warmer days were in my head.
It was with that sunshiny perspective that I went hunting online for a little of 'what to expect' for this coming spring and summer.
Of course, being a good, stylish, gay guy first I went to see what Tom Ford was planning. I can tell you, it's quite lovely. The fun thing is that a lot of the collection reminds me of pictures of my father, circa 1968-1970. Wide lapelled jackets, plaid trousers, big bow ties, suede...it's all in there.
What do you think about it? Do you see yourself sporting a big ol' fedora this coming summer? I sure plan on getting myself one.

Up next was Marc Jacobs for Louis Vuitton. He too seemed to be inspired by late 60's and the likes of my father. More mid-thigh shorts, wide collared jackets, jewel tones, long shirts and wide belts. Some really, really beautiful light knits and scarves too. One can never have too many accessories - especially if you represent the house of LV!

You can shop in true luxury for these items at the brand new Louis Vuitton store in Vancouver on Burrard street off-Robson. The revamped Hotel Vancouver store is the fourth Maison in North America and twelfth in the world (other Maison cities include San Francisco, Tokyo, London, and, of course, Paris). It features an installation work by Vancouver artist Steven Shearer, as well as a glossy “bag bar” and, finally, the complete ready-to-wear collection.
Here's the full men's fashion show if you'd like to see it all.
Now to plan my trip to Miami so I can start wearing some of my new purchases before any one else does. Happy shopping!
