Top Vancouver events Dec 8-11: The season of giving back

There are tons of fundraisers being held throughout the holiday season, and these ones here sound like a great excuse to celebrate while giving back. And as you would expect, the craft fairs continue with Toque 2011. A hat may not be a bad idea, given that this may be the coldest Vancouver in a while. Brrr.

Celebrate the holiday season with Vancouver's award-winning street paper Megaphone and recognize the incredible work their vendors do throughout the year. All money raised will go toward Megaphone's vendor program, which gives an economic opportunity and a voice to homeless and low-income people. Performing at this year's event is Blackout Beach, Fine Mist The Ruffled Feathers as well as hilarious comedian Alicia Tobin.

Nat Geo 2D IMAX Film 'Journey to Mecca' (Ajay's Pick)

The last film in the fall series of Pia's documentary film potlucks. Internationally Acclaimed, National Geographic's ‘Journey to Mecca’ a 2D IMAX feature-length docu-drama filmed in Saudi Arabia and Morocco. The film tells the amazing story of Ibn Battuta, the legendary 14th century traveler, explorer and writer, and paints an unforgettable picture of Islamic civilization, culminating in his first Hajj. Narrated by Ben Kingsley And Dima Alansari co-produced it (she'll be in attendance).

Creativity Heals - Vietnam Flood Relief Arts Showcase
