Lisa is away on  vacation to a warm paradise and we BEEs are busy gathering nectar. Mimicking the recent mix of sunny and rainy weather, we also have an eclectic mix: from hiphop, bhangra, tech wizardry, health, food and climate. Diwali Downtown Cultural Extravaganza

This day-long event takes over the entire Roundhouse and includes dozens of South Asian performances taking place on multiple stages. Bring the entire family down to enjoy a full day of music, dance, crafts, interactive performances, and of course, tons of great Indian food!

 

Peace Geeks : Launch Party & Peace Art Exhibit

Peace Geeks is a Vancouver-based non-profit organization that helps to empowers other non-profit organizations around the world working on peace, accountability and human rights.  This event aims to tell people about what they do, and explore ways in which art and technology are used to talk about and promote peace accountability and human rights. The event will feature talks from Reena Lazar (Peace It Together), Jodi Martionson (Journalist & Film maker) and Kate Milberry (Geeks & Global Justice). There will also be performances by a Persian musical group and a number of art installations. Thanks Soudeh!

 

Amplify: Media Democracy Day fundraising concert

Come attend the Media Democracy Day fundraising concert this Thursday, October 20, at the Railway Club. Come celebrate the open Internet, media democracy, and live local music. In addition to supporting this year's Media Democracy Days we'll also be celebrating the anniversary of Canadians winning key rules to keep the Internet open and fair in Canada (AKA Net Neutrality)!
