Masala Mix for Nov 18-21: Make IT Vancouver | Dollhouse Blue Party | Green Foot FlashMob + Much More

Aloha everyone,

Boy, the Remembrance weekend was jam-packed with great events. We had a fun time shaking our tail feathers at W2 for the Megahurtz 12 DJ dance party and, later on, at Lotus Long Weekend. Props go out to Laura for organizing Vancouver’s first DSLR film festival. I was there with friends from East of Main, a blog I contribute to. We found the quality of the films to be exceptional.
Now I want to tell you about an exciting change that is ‘bee’ing added to Masala Mix. I’m mixing in some sweet tasting goodness, HONEY SWEET, that is.  Starting next week, this listing will become the BEE Vancity: Building, Engaging, Empowering - Honey Sweet Events. Why, you ask, am I doing this? Well, I’ve brought on two amaJING bees: Lorien Henson (the Queen Bee) and Steve Williams (the Honey Bee). Don’t worry, we’ll still bee covering events that are inclusive, positive and fun - we’ll just have more bees pollinating them.
The bees have been busy in their hive selecting this week's TOP 3 FAVE events:
  1. Make it Vancouver : The Handmade Revolution

Fri to Sun | Croatian Cultural Centre | $5 at door ($2 off coupon on website)

Wondering where to find the coolest handmade gifts for everyone on your holiday list? Do you want to support talented Vancouver artisans and designers instead of huge multinational chains? Would you rather listen to the hottest DJs rather than crappy Christmas music? Then Make It is the place you want to be this November 19 -21. Come support our good friends Jenna and Chandler and shop from over 90 of Canada's hottest emerging designers under one roof. Did we mention there's beer and wine?

Nov 20 9PM | Open Studios | $20

This sassy event is headed up by our friend Crystal Precious and her glamtastic team. It’s always an amazing party. There will be amaJING DJs and Live Performances by Sweet Soul Burlesque. NOTE: there is a strict dress code in effect: Blue. No exceptions. Sass it Up! Prizes for best costumes.

Sun 930-1130am | David Lam Park | Free, but wear GREEN
In over a dozen places around the globe, citizens and artists will create massive public art installations to show how climate change has already affected our world and offer their unique solutions. Each art installation will be large enough to be seen from space and will be documented by satellites generously provided by DigitalGlobe. A team in Vancouver has just signed up to take part in the effort. Our friends over at the Vancouver Public Space Network are making an aerial art image of a giant footprint.
