Flowers in the Sky

July 27, 2006

Vancouver---The sky lit up. Each explosion opened into another jaw dropping pattern. Just when you thought it couldn't get any better and that had to be the last one, another explosion and another firework flower opened up, globes dotted with light, or patterns resembling gigantic multi-colored zinnias.

Different countries competed, trying to outdo the other in showing off the most astoundingly beautiful display. The perfectly clear night offered a splendid stage for this riotous spectacle.

People came out onto their balconies to admire the sight. They watched from sidewalk cafes, from parks, and from cars crossing the bridges. Yelps of pleasure resounded through the night and expressions of awe as the sky ignited.

This wonderful treat will take place again next Saturday night, next Wednesday night, and again, the following Sunday. Vancouver, you rule.
