BC's Ryder Hesjedal wins Giro d'Italia, makes Canadian cycling history

Ryder Hesjedal made Canadian history with his 2012 Giro d'Italia win, becoming the first Canadian to win a Grand Tour race.

Hesjedal, who hails from Victoria, British Columbia, had also become the first Canadian to take the pink jersey as the overall leader in the Giro d'Italia.

  • 2011 Tour de France - Stage 16 3rd
  • 2010 Tour de France - 7th overall
