Fresh off of two Gemini Award Nominations, Clé Bennett continues to take the Canadian entertainment industry by storm. Next up for the busy actor is a supporting role alongside an incredible ensemble cast in the upcoming dramatic feature film from Robert Lantos, entitled ‘Barney's Version’. The film’s A-list cast includes Paul Giamatti (Barney Panofsky) and Dustin Hoffman (as Barney’s father). The feature follows the life of the irascible, but lovable, Barney and his three failed marriages; all of which end badly, but for completely different reasons. Clé plays Cedric Richardson in the film, a Casanova, who roams with Barney Panofsky’s gang of Bohemian Artists in Europe. The dramedy, which was shot primarily in Rome and Montreal, is set to make its world premiere at the Venice International Film Festival, while the North American premiere will take place at the Toronto International Film Festival, both this September. It will also be screening at the Vancouver International Film Festival this fall.
Clé has had an extremely busy year, most recently being nominated for two Gemini Awards for his television performances. The Gemini’s celebrate the best in Canadian television. Clé is nominated in the Best Performance by an Actor in a Featured Supporting Role in a Dramatic Program or Mini-Series for his role in ‘Guns’, and in the Best Performance by an Actor in a Featured Supporting Role in a Dramatic Series category for his role on ‘The Line’.
He also has a number of upcoming appearances on a variety of notable shows, including, ‘Lost Girl’, which premieres this fall on Showcase, and the hit CBC series 'Republic of Doyle’. He also joins acclaimed actor Callum Keith Rennie (24, Californication), Molly Parker (The Road, Deadwood) and Gemini-Award winning actor, Camille Sullivan (Intelligence, Da Vinci’s Inquest) in the Canadian-based hour long Canwest television series ‘Shattered’, premiering on Global TV on September 24th. Clé plays John ‘Hall’ Holland, a young and ambitious detective on the series, which follows a smart and unconventional homicide detective (Rennie) with Dissociative Identity Disorder. Canwest senior VP of drama Christine Shipton called the project "a stunning and gripping look at a detective as if he were moving through reflections of a broken mirror." http://www.globaltv.com/shattered/cast/Detective+John+Hall+Holland/3413907/story.html
The Toronto native is a vibrant actor, with a number of other film and television credits to his name. Recognized from his lead performance in the Genie-nominated feature film ‘Treed Murray’, Clé’s other feature film credits include: ‘Steal’, ‘Harvard Man’, ‘Animal 2’ and ‘How She Move’, which was nominated for a Grand Jury Prize at the Sundance Film Festival.
The multi-talented performer is also in high demand in the competitive voice-over market, and has lent his versatile voice to such high profile ads as Coca-Cola, Ford and Wrigley’s. Showing no signs of slowing down, watch for Clé on your TV and movie screens this year.
