How to Donate to Haiti and Get the Federal Government to Match Your Gift
The federal government has announced that it will match each dollar donated to a registered Canadian charitable organization (list here), to a maximum of $50 million.
For Canadians who wish to donate to help Haiti disaster victims during this difficult time, you may wish to consult a searchable list of registered charities in Canada by visiting the CRA Charities Listings or calling 1-800-267-2384.
Organizations that are providing help for the victims of the earthquake in Haiti:
Canadian Red Cross: Donations can be made online at www.redcross.ca by calling toll free 1-800-418-1111 or at any Red Cross office. Next week, from January 18 to 22, the Red Cross will also be collecting donations at five TTC subway stations: Bloor-Yonge, King, Finch, Sheppard-Yonge and Kennedy.
