Joe Oliver and Peter Kent among top 3 most lobbied Cabinet ministers

Natural Resources Minister Joe Oliver and Environment Minister Peter Kent were in the top 3 most lobbied Cabinet ministers in 2012, according to a report in The Hill Times.

The report, based on the lobbying registry,  shows that Agriculture Minister Minister Gerry Ritz was the most lobbied Cabinet minister in 2012, having met registered lobbyists 111 times over last year.

Natural Resources Minister Joe Oliver was the second most lobbied Cabinet minister, with 83 meetings, while Environment Minister Peter Kent was third with 77 meetings.

Lobbyists said to the publication last week this was not surprising, given the Conservative government's emphasis on “resource development” and energy production.
