democracyLOUD! A Fundraiser for Media Democracy Days 2012
The Media Democracy Days 2012 crew is excited to announce that, for the fourth year in a row, we will be hosting a fundraising concert October 11th, 2012 at Vancouver's legendary Railway Club, an event co-hosted by our friends at Sad Mag. Head over to our Facebook event page HERE to let us know you're coming!
Featuring local artists Ciseaux, Ché Aimee, and The Brice Tabish Band, this year's fundraiser - democracyLOUD - will be even more exciting than last year's tremendously successful event. With lots of door prizes, raffle items, and giveaways generously provided by MDD supporters such as The Cobalt, The Cinematheque, the Rain City Chronicles, FCAT at Simon Fraser University, and the Arsenal Pulp Press, democracyLOUD isn't to be missed!
democracyLOUD takes place at The Railway Club (579 Dunsmuir Street) on Thursday, October 11th. Tickets are $10 at the door, with all proceeds going to support Media Democracy Day 2012. Doors open at 8 PM, music begins at 9 PM. Media Democracy Days 2012 would like to thank both the Railway Club and Sad Mag in advance for their continued hosting and promotional support.
FEATURING THE MUSIC OF:
Ciseaux
Ciseaux is the most recent endeavor of Victoria, BC artist, Katie Schaan. Melodies swam around her head and danced out her rosebud lips before she was old enough to even know words to speak. That tiny girl lived three years of life before hitting the stage with a tiny cello, and there was no stopping her from music making after that. Ciseaux is inspired by everything from Bach’s Brandenburg concertos, to soulful melodies of the 60’s, to the imaginative indie persuasions of her peers. This is a project evolved from classical training, a love of pop music and an unwillingness to be limited by genre. Ciseaux's debut EP, produced by the illustrious Aidan Knight, will melt your heart and make you want to dance all at the same time.

Ché Aimee
...is a Vancouver born musician. She grew up listening to Nick Drake, Tim Buckley and....ahem... Airsupply. She has only just accepted that Airsupply has had a strong influence in her writing style but has added her own twist by writing less terrible lyrics. In 2008, she attended an Airsupply concert and the shorter of the two members kissed her on the cheek. She thinks of this often.

The Brice Tabish Band
While all members of The Brice Tabish Band (TBTB) grew up on a strong diet of British and American classic rock bands, their own music has retained all of the emotional strength with only some of the bombast. TBTB brings the early influence of jazz rhythms on rock music, now largely lost, back to our attention with their funk and blues-inspired brand of original hard rock. TBTB promises to offer something to rock lovers of all generations, from those who appreciate the swing and grit of contemporary blues rockers such as The Black Keys or The White Stripes, to those who have completely warn out their copy of Made in Japan or Let it Be.
