The purpose of Refugee Day is to invite Vancouver residents to learn more about refugee experiences and to begin exploring how we can make Vancouver a more welcoming place for refugees.

Promenade (Concourse Level):

11:00am – 4:00pm: Refugee Services Information Fair -  Find out about where refugees come from, how they get here, what issues they face on arrival, and recent changes to Canada's refugee policies.

Alice McKay Room:

1:00pm: Opening Ceremony and City of Vancouver Proclamation of UNHCR's World Refugee Day

1:20pm: Unveiling of Refugee House Centre - A new made-in-Vancouver, international model for refugee settlement and service provision

1:50pm: Live Music performed by refugee musicians

2:00pm: Stories of Refugees - Interactive theatre piece in the style of Theatre of the Oppressed, exploring refugee journeys and perspectives. Come and experience the stories of refugees from South Sudan, Mexico and Iraq.

2:50pm: Screening of Documentaries from Amnesty International

3:40pm: Closing Ceremony
