The Life Game Vancouver: With Heather Pritchard!

VANCOUVER, BC: Truth Be Told Theatre Company, in association with Monster Creative Productions and Granville Island Cultural Society present The Life Game Vancouver-with local ‘food hero’ Heather Pritchard. See improvisation as you’ve never seen it before. Surprisingly touching, honest and mature; The Life Game shows us a side of improv, and ourselves, that you may not expect. The Life Game Ensemble includes accomplished Improv artists such as Brian Anderson, Jeff Gladstone, Ryan Gladstone, Tom Jones, David Milchard, Riel Hahn, Lori Triolo, Christina Sicoli, Veena Sood and Tallulah Winkelman.

The Life Game is a show that reminds us all, however ordinary, that we all have an extraordinary life story to tell. Each night a different guest is interviewed on stage about their life. The guest of honour will be Heather Pritchard, a local pioneer of sustainable food systems. The show takes the bare bones of Heather’s life story and then transforms that information, then and there, into a magical piece of improvised theatre using renowned improvisation artist Keith Johnstone’s Life Game technique. Everyone has a story to tell…and in The Life Game those stories can be told.

About Heather Pritchard: Heather is a female food hero because of her passion and commitment to passing on the skills, land, partnerships, sustainable practices and biodiverse seeds to the next generation of farmers in British Columbia. She is a long time food activist and co-founder/farmer with Glorious Organics Co-op in the Fraser Valley. She is a pioneer and great mentor in the realms of alternative forms of land tenure (so that landless farmers can have access to land in the future,) connecting local farmers and eaters, local food supply micro-lending, young farmer training, local organic seed security and the marketing of organic seasonal salad mix. She is an inspiration to the current and next generation and says that she loves every kind of food, except for sea urchin.

“What a fascinating evening at the theatre(…)Ultimately, the discovery at the end of the evening is this: we’re all in the same boat, we just paddle it differently.(…) I wouldn’t miss it.”- Jo Ledingham, Vancouver Courier

“Unlike the more manic and gag-filled Theatresports, The Life Game aims for a fuller range of emotions.” Guy MacPherson, The Georgia Straight.

The atmosphere at The Life Game is very casual and inviting. Audience members are encouraged to come early and stay after the show for an informal reception with the guest of honour, the Life Game ensemble and the members of the Granville Island Cultural Society.

The Life Game: With Guest Heather Pritchard is on Sunday, June 24th at 8pm. The performance takes place at Studio 1398 (1398 Cartwright St., Granville Island, Vancouver).
