VANCOUVER, BC: Truth Be Told Theatre Company, in association with Monster Creative Productions and Granville Island Cultural Society present The Life Game Vancouver-with guest Lesley Ewen! See improvisation as you’ve never seen it before. Surprisingly touching, honest and mature; The Life Game shows us a side of improv, and ourselves, that you may not expect. The Life Game Ensemble includes accomplished Improv artists such as Brian Anderson, Jeff Gladstone, Ryan Gladstone, Tom Jones, David Milchard, Riel Hahn, Lori Triolo, Christina Sicoli and Tallulah Winkelman.
The Life Game is a show that reminds us all, however ordinary, that we all have an extraordinary life story to tell. Each night a different guest is interviewed on stage about their life. April’s guest will be well-known Vancouver actress Lesley Ewen. The show takes the bare bones of Lesley’s life story and then transforms that information, then and there, into a magical piece of improvised theatre using renowned improvisation artist Keith Johnstone’s Life Game technique. Everyone has a story to tell…and in The Life Game those stories can be told.
About Lesley: Since graduating from the Vancouver Playhouse Acting School in 1983, Lesley’s made a life as a professional, independent artist; creating live art, theatre, film & TV, soundscape, narration, photographs, video, cultural events, workshops, performative installations, a national CBC radio show, 4 playscripts and some sweet music.
As an actor, she’s performed in Europe and across Canada, from Haida Gwaii to P.E.I., with over 40 theatre companies in between, including Stratford, the Playhouse, the Citadel, Theatre Calgary, The NAC, ATP, MTC, PTE, PTC, Touchstone, One Yellow Rabbit, The Gateway, urban ink, Felix Culpa, Radix, as well as 5 shows with Leaky Heaven, of which she is a founding member. Lesley recently added another stage credit to her extensive resume in February when she debuted at the Arts Club in “Intimate Apparel”. As well as live performance, Lesley has accrued over 60 film and tv credits: X Files, Men in Trees, L Word, Chaos, V and numerous other MOWs, TV series and features.
“What a fascinating evening at the theatre(…)Ultimately, the discovery at the end of the evening is this: we’re all in the same boat, we just paddle it differently.(…) I wouldn’t miss it.”- Jo Ledingham, Vancouver Courier
“The name of the game, in The Life Game is intimacy(…)Some memories are insignificant but touching, others grand and raucous… while others may leave a tear in your eye.” Greg Ewan, reviewvancouver
