Life in a back lane

It's about 9 a.m. in Port Moody that has its nickname "The City of Arts". All the 9-to-5 working class left the area more than an hour ago after rushing to Vancouver. The next layer of people is coming to the life's stage in a sleepy back lane. The scenery is far from those we can see in tourist folders, it is rather grayish. It seems that randomness of still progressing entropy is ravaging the backyards. No flashy lights of night life, no modern glass-and-steel architecture of downtown Vancouver, no young and busy business professionals talking their cellphones or smiling young housewives with stuffed brand names shopping bags who no matter what show their happiness because they bought yet another dress or pair of trendy shoes. The over exaggerated motto of "British Columbia - the best place on Earth" doesn't really confirm its truth here or does it? It's life that's not really visible from the busy streets until you switch a bit aside. Not much effort is necessary to take; it's only 50 metres from the main street to the back lane with, of course, Starbucks place on the way. It's only that distance but many people rushing to work everyday may never experience in their life the flavour of relaxing atmosphere of the back lane. But a short stop by and a relaxing look around makes you think about other, parallel life, like from another dimension, revealing right in front of you. It's not really about industrial progress, medical achievements, sport records or crisis in world politics. But the things like garbage removal and cleaning the toilet bowl are equally important in life. It's not really something that super advanced HD black boxes bring to us as revelations in their breaking news until we take a peek, just 50 meters off the main life stream, right to the back lane. It's friendly, safe and welcoming to everyone. It's up to us whether we want to see it or still keep rushing from 9 to 5.

I like this.  I'd like to see more about what's going on in the back alleys of our lives....
