Marc Ellison

Marc Ellison left the safety of his oubliette after a 10-year IT career to chase his dream of becoming a foreign correspondent. To prove it wasn’t a foolhardy exercise he worked in northern Uganda and South Sudan in summer 2011.

After living and working in Rwanda and Bosnia-Herzegovina previously for 13 months, Marc realized that his primary interest lay in exploring transitional and post-genocidal societies.

Marc’s current project, funded by an IDRC award, will examine the reintegration of female former child soldiers in Uganda through an interactive multimedia site at www.dwogpaco.com.  He also worked as a photojournalist for The New Nation – a new newspaper recently established in Juba, South Sudan.

Marc’s other print, radio, multimedia and TV experience include: Canadian GeographicIDRCMega FM (Gulu, Uganda); The Ottawa Citizen and OpenFile.
